The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) 2019 Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Industry took place from August 12 to August 14, 2019 in Portland, Oregon. The theme of this year’s study was “Inspiring Action for a Sustainable Future“. This conference gave attendees the chance to hear from visionaries and energy leaders, and the opportunity to discuss best practices and new approaches towards a sustainable future.
Siddika Pasi, Kelly Baber, and Sara Neiss from the Rutgers Center for Advanced Energy Systems (CAES) attended the ACEEE Summer Study. The CAES team presented two research papers: “Study of Blockchain Technology’s Potential to Deliver Transformative Disruption to An Aging Grid” and “A More Inclusive Gender Diverse Workforce and Shifting Paradigm on Leadership in the Energy Efficiency Industry – Approaches Explored at the DOE IAC Program”. The CAES team also coordinated a women’s breakfast at the ACEEE meeting as a part of their Women for Energy Efficiency (WE2) initiative. A signup for WE2’s upcoming IAC mentorship program was available at the breakfast and several energy industry professionals signed up to participate. The program, which will begin this November, aims to match female students currently working in the IAC program with professional mentors to provide career development, professional guidance, and networking opportunities.
